Expenso is built around an offline-first & data minimization architecture. Below is a complete breakdown of the data handled by the app:
2.1 Data You Enter Directly
All of the following data is stored entirely on your local device and is never transmitted to any external server or developer cloud:

3 · Data Storage & Security
Key Point: Expenso stores all financial records, budget limits, receipt scans, and bill reminders exclusively in local device storage using a secure database (Room/SQLite). This data is never uploaded to any server, third party, or cloud service.
- Local Storage: All financial entries are stored in a local SQLite database (Room) on your device only
- No Cloud Sync: Expenso does not operate remote servers or send financial records over the network
- On-Device ML Kit OCR: Receipt image scanning uses on-device machine learning algorithms without uploading photos online
- Security: Data protection is managed in full accordance with standard Android security protocols
4 · How We Use Your Data
The financial information you record is used solely for the following in-app purposes:
- Displaying income, expense histories, and category spending statistics
- Calculating monthly budget limits and remaining balances
- Scheduling exact local notifications for upcoming bill due dates
- Scanning receipt photos locally to auto-fill transaction details
- Displaying summary data on your home screen widgets
Expenso does not use your financial data for marketing, profiling, credit reporting, or data broker sales.
5 · Advertising (Google AdMob)
Expenso displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob to support free app development.
What Google AdMob Collects:
- Device advertising ID
- Ad interactions (impressions, clicks)
- Device information (model, OS version, system language)
- Inferred demographics — managed independently by Google

6 · App Permissions

- Legal Requirements: When strictly mandated by applicable laws or valid legal processes
8 · Your Rights
As an Expenso user, you have complete control over your data:
- Access & Edit: View, modify, or correct any transaction record or budget setting at any time
- Delete: Delete individual expenses, categories, or clear all app data directly from App Settings
- Complete Data Removal: Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored databases and settings
9 · Children's Privacy
Expenso does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The app requires no user registration or online profile creation. All recorded data remains exclusively on the device.
10 · Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Any updates will be published on this URL and will take effect immediately upon publication. The revision date is displayed at the top and bottom of this page.
11 · Governing Law
